Blizzard!

The big snow storm really shut us down last week. Danny and the neighbors tried to make the most of it, but it was cold, dark, and SLOW skating. By the time we were done shoveling the rink, more snow had come down where we started.

 The trusty car that got Dad into work, when those who have all-wheel drive luxury automobiles were "snowed in". We're still waiting for some of them to show up at work.

Sleepy Sunday Morning

Just our usual Sunday morning, doing laps around the kitchen.

February Skating

I spend most of my time these days eating, sleeping, going to work, and worrying about the weather. When it thaws, I order more hockey gear, then check the forecast hourly until ice forms again, then keep checking to see how long we will have ice.  Here's Danny testing out the new goal with our neighbor.

Leigh out on the ice, too.  After whacking the puck a bit she announced that she wanted to play goalie.

She did just what she learned from her brother - sat right in front of the goal.

January update

 Night hockey!

Then all the ice melted, and the Miller Leonards came for a weekend in the 'burbs.

Fortuitous timing, because I needed the help getting my makeshift cooling coil back into the pond before it froze up.

The only thing better than a week of sub-freezing temps is a week of outdoor winter fun.

 

 

Sunset Skate

We have been having a lot of fun here with our rink. Right now it's mostly a floating ice cube, but we skated 8 of the past 9 days.  We'll shut it down until it gets cold again.

Hockey

Before a heat wave killed our rink, we got some skating in this morning.  The NHL may be kaput but we can still have fun.
