A Day in the Life: Part 2

Post-siesta, our day would resume with yet another trip to the beach. After getting everyone sunscreened, dressed, and loaded into the van, we would head to the ocean, where the rest of the family (later risers than ourselves) would be waiting for us.

It never took Cousin Kaiya long to get her mitts on Li-Li.

She proved to be a very good helper and would follow Leigh around and keep her out of trouble while SHV and Neen worked on their tans.

Meanwhile, DKV would partake in a friendly game of horseshoes.

Here DHV and Uncle Dana watch and wait at the other end.

DHV wasn't satisfied with just watching, however, and had to get in on the action as well.

When Kaiya got tired of babysitting, Janine took Li-Li for a stroll.

And then "Sandma" and "Sampa" joined the girls for a photo op.

Yes, Leigh got passed around quite a lot. Here she is hanging out with Uncle Dana and Aunt Molly. She was pretty tolerant...

... but eventually decided that she'd had enough.

Finally, the afternoon would end with some good old fashioned digging. Where's Danny?

La Republica Dominicana

Everyone was getting a bit stir crazy in CT, what with the snow and the cold and the ice and the cold and all, so it was a good thing we flew down for some R&R in the Caribbean.
Here's our conveyance; DHV rode Britney-Spears style for a week!
DHV took great delight in destroying any organized sand structure.
DHV also took great delight in sand.
A long day in the sun deserves an icy tropical drink.Frozen drinks also go well with red sauce; everyone should wear their bib cape-style when drinking midday.
All that sun makes a boy tired; here's DHV's second nap ever with Dad.DHV did not enjoy this "burrito" ride.Lots of scary golfers from the Deep South were lurking about in ambuscade, so DHV learned how to hold hands.A nice woman gave DHV a balloon at breakfast.
Dancing with Mommy to the mariachi band.Examining the pool.Catching up on some light reading.Swimming!

February in New York

DKV had to work all weekend (yet again) so Mommy and DHV packed up and headed to New York to see the family. Upon arriving at Grandma and Grandpa's house, DHV promptly set to work rearranging their kitchen cabinets.

These cans clearly belong on the windowsill!
The next day we joined cousin Kaiya for her 6th birthday celebration.

And Grandma helped DHV develop his musical skills...

... which both he and Kaiya found pretty funny!

Christmas 2007

Christmas! The season of cardboard UPS dropoffs - here DHV strikes his best "sleepy frat boy" pose while fetching some deliveries.
Later we headed to NY to meet up with Cousin Elsie, Aunt MAV, and Uncle LongA, courtesy of some of their hipster parenting friends.
EAB and DHV pretty much ignored each other.
DHV seemed a bit shocked by the whole situation.

Back in the Nu Haven DHV enjoyed some time with the three little pigs and big bad wolf.Once destructor went to bed the scene was set for Christmas morning."I'm the world's strongest baby!"Trains and overalls for everyone!Tunnel exploring. The wheelchair ramp was the most exciting thing of all! With a little help, DHV went from crawling to walking!

Mohonk vs our Camera

As Uncle Pete would blog, "Mohonk vs our camera!"
This week brought a trip up the Hudson valley to New Paltz,
home of Mohonk family resort. This place was bangin'!
DHV loved exploring the grounds and getting underfoot all the old fogies who were perpetually wandering about, looking for their Aricept.
Here DHV built his climbing muscles on the main stairway.
Grandparent Lindy presided over family dinner. You can't beat buffet gourmet food; HusbandKV tried, and met defeat at the hands of the chocolate bundt cake and something called a chocolate "bombe".
DHV was so happy he even cuddled a bit.
He didn't realize HusbandKV would dress him up like the flying nun!
Hikes are boring when you have to stare at a fat head the whole time!
DHV worked the camera, on location. And sucked down some soy formula.Frogs and snakes inhabited this bucolic pond. That's DHV with his parental unit in front of the Mohonk House. Immediately after this photo the camera took a header off its perch, sustaining career-threatening injuries. Powershot SD750 is on the DL for at least 2 weeks. Who knows what we'll post about until its return.
