Sleepy Sunday Morning

Before a heat wave killed our rink, we got some skating in this morning.  The NHL may be kaput but we can still have fun.

Leigh can f-ing Read

Leigh smashed her face two nights ago, loosening up a tooth and making her look like a plastic surgery patient after a lip plumping injection gone bad. Susannah took her to the dentist yesterday and Leigh started reading some books she had never seen before. We had assumed she was just repeating memorized books to herself when she snuck into Danny's room to read books by herself.

Here she is, reading Danny's word ring. His kindergarten teacher tells us these are first grade words that he is working on "sight recognition" of. Leigh has them down, without ever practicing a word ring before. She is wearing my safety glasses just because she can.


Needless to say, this development made us quite happy.

Daddy Skates

The town Mill Pond was closed for skating, so we headed to one of the elementary schools for the temporary rink there. It was locked up, but the helpful school folks called Parks and Recreation and got it opened up for us! DadKV is quite proud of his second ever ice skating experience, the first in 15 years. Danny wouldn't stop talking about it, either. Two days after he couldn't get up without the boards he was popping up without using his hands.
