One Week Report

It's been seven days since the twins were born.
The good news:
Leigh Rutledge and Elizabeth Motoko are still alive.
Both have had two brain ultrasounds without any bleeding.
EM's patent ductus arteriosus closed after one round of medication (LR's closed by itself).
Leigh is being fed SHV's milk.
The bad news is that they're both still on the ventilator; Leigh may be off in the next week or two, Elizabeth continues to give the NICU staff a test of their clinical skills and give her parents a measuring of our mettle.
Once they get off the ventilators, the fattening can start in earnest. Once they get fat, they can come home.

Here's EM relaxing in her pink palace.
LR trying to catch some extra Z's.
Mama Bear watching over.
Big brother DH making his morning appearance after going for a quick jog in his PJs.

"Vroom, vroom!"
"I didn't do it, I promise!"

thanks so much for keeping us posted on the girls. happy to hear all the good news, and we will keep praying for them to come off those ventilators so the fattening can begin!

Good to see the Hawk in some different pajamas. I was starting to think that he was never changed out of his dinosaur pjs. But this seems to be a Nehalem Street thing too - once they finally decide to change Ida's onesie, Ella and Pete have to surgically remove it.

Also good to see some new pics of the girls. They look bigger already. What is going on with the lights? done?

Danny has learned to jump. It is nice achievement except that he requires the other people present (ugh) to jump with him. Here is a tribute to him: ( I know it isn't poetry Aruthur and Pete.)

There was a young fellow named Danny
Who knew how to charm his dear Granny
He got off his rump
And learned how to jump
Though he often would end on his fanny
